CONUL T&D are delighted to announce the winner of the 2018 Research Award, the objective of which is to encourage practitioner-based research and innovation among librarians in CONUL member libraries.
The recipient of the sixth Research Award is Elaine Harrington, Special Collections Librarian at the Boole Library, UCC.
Elaine’s entry entitled ‘Listening to Libraries’ Sounds Today for the Library of Tomorrow’ will investigate how in libraries ‘noise’ and not ‘sound’ is perceived. She will also address mapping sounds within UCC library and creating a soundscape of the space with a view to identifying the benefits and challenges for libraries in engaging in sound mapping in order to enhance spatial and service design.
