The influence of copyright law on our work as information professionals is pervasive. As information professionals we have a duty to be well-informed of our responsibilities in print and digital academic communication environments, where the issue of copyright is ever present. This seminar is designed to enable library staff gain an understanding of the principle of copyright, the need for compliance, and the practicalities of how copyright affects a range of services offered by academic libraries in-house, online, in teaching environments and in the dissemination of research.

18 Nov 17: National Procurement: The opportunities and challenges for Irish libraries

Procurement has formed a key part of the Government’s Public Service Reform agenda and can provide not only savings for the taxpayer but also increased competition, efficiencies within libraries, value for money, openness and transparency. This seminar is designed to allow library staff gain an understanding of the public procurement environment, procurement principles, national guidelines and EU directives. The event will also focus on the importance of librarians working in collaboration with procurement professionals to deliver successful outcomes to tender processes.
