New University Librarian at University College Cork

Following an international search process,  UCC’s new University Librarian, Coral Black, started in her role on Tuesday 11th April 2023.

Coral moves to UCC from Australia, where she held the position of University Librarian at the University of Newcastle for four years.

Prior to this, Coral worked at the University of Sydney as Director, Site Services in the Library.

Coral moved to New Zealand in 2011 following a long career in the UK working in senior management roles in library, learning and information services, across the tertiary sector. This included Edge Hill University, the University of London’s Senate House Library, and Royal Holloway College.

Throughout her career Coral has provided strategic leadership to large teams of professional staff, and managed large organizational, technological and cultural change projects, working with her team to build client-centred services.  She has developed a keen interest in workforce and succession planning, and how we shape staff roles and teams to support the changing needs of the University community.

Please join us in welcoming Coral to the CONUL Community. If you wish to learn a little more about Coral check out this Q&A she did with the The Courier, the UCC newsletter.
