UCD Library were delighted to receive the news that more than 30 members of our Client Services and Facilities teams (AKA the Library COVID Response team) were awarded a 2021 UCD Values in Action Award for their outstanding contributions to UCD during the pandemic, and for keeping the ‘show on the road’ throughout. The team was nominated for the award by the UCD Students’ Union and Lorna Dodd, UCD Library Associate Librarian.
The Values in Action awards celebrate individuals or teams/committees who act as ambassadors for the UCD Values through their daily work, volunteering or through establishing initiatives. The Library teams are being recognised for the values of engagement, how the Library, an important community hub on campus, had a major role in helping students remain engaged with the University throughout COVID; excellence, by continuing to provide the excellent service they have always provided on top of the added difficulties of the pandemic; and diversity by providing a key support for students from all types of backgrounds throughout the pandemic.
Lorna Dodd said ‘This award is a wonderful acknowledgement of the value library staff bring to the University and particularly to the student experience’.
